Can Google Adsense Be Added to Your Joomla Article or Banner module?

From what my experiments, after Joomla is installed, and assuming you are copying and pasting the HTML code provided by Google Adsense program, the advertisements do NOT show. So, it seems that simply adding the code provided by Google for Adsense into a blog article of Joomla, even if you do it as a Source Code, does not work.

Adding the Banner module to your Joomla installation and going to the Header or Footer Text section and adding the Google Adsense code for your specific Ad does not work either.   I refer to the the HTML code you get for the ad you made with with Google Adsense program.
